JACKSON, Tenn. – The Union University women's soccer team posted a 3-0 win over Spring Hill (Ala.) College. With their second win in a row, Union improved to 2-6 overall and 2-0 in the Gulf South Conference. Spring Hill dropeed to 0-6-2 overall and 0-2 in league play.
Union took the lead in the 28
th minute of play when
Kayleigh Patterson scored the game-winner. For Patterson, this was her first goal of the season.
Honeye Heydari had the assist. Spring Hill outshot Union 7-4 in the first half, but the score remained 1-0 in favor of the Lady Bulldogs.
In the second half, Union wasted no time in putting the match away. A pair of goals in the first six minutes and one second of play put Union up 3-0. The three goals were the most scored in a game for Union this season.
Heydari scored her second goal of the season in the 48
th minute, assisted by
Hannah Miller. Then, at the 51:01 mark,
Kelsey Wilkes scored her team best third goal of the year to give Union the comfortable lead.
Spirng Hill outshot Union 19-12 in the game, with the shots on goal being even at nine each.
Kristen Francis recorded nine save for Union in her second shutout of the week. Spring Hill goalie Maggie Delessio had six saves.
Heydari led Union with four shots, while Madison Camet led Spring Hill with a game high seven shots.
Up next for Union will be a pair of road conference matches October 2 at West Alabama and October 4 at Alabama Huntsville.
