JACKSON, Tenn. – The Union University men's soccer team posted a 3-0 win over Spring Hill (Ala.) College. Union improved to 4-4 on the season and 2-0 in the Gulf South Conference. Spring Hill dropped to 2-6 overall and 0-2 in league play.
This was the second straight win for Union
Union scored first in the seventh minute of play on a goal from
Diogo Dias, assisted by
Lucas Lopes. Union dominted play and shots in the first half, out-shooting Spring Hill 12-1 in the first 45 minutes. However, the score remained 1-0 in favor of Union.
That scored remained until 21 minutes into the second half when
Andre Silva scored his team-leading third goal of the year. Just 10 minutes later, Union extended their lead on a goal from
David Marin, assisted by
Kyle Yeoman.
Union outshot Spring Hill 21-9 in the game, including 11-4 in shots on goal.
Matt Kesler recorded four saves in the shutout win. Will Carpenter had eight saves for Spring Hill.
Clayton Martin led Union with six shots, while Sivert Siem led Spring Hill with two shots.
Up next for Union will be a pair of road conference games October 2 at West Alabama and October 4 at Alabama Huntsville.
