JACKSON, Tenn. – The Union University Lady Bulldogs dropped their second straight match with the loss to the University of North Alabama Lady Lions 3-0 (25-13, 25-15, 25-17). Union dropped to 3-7 overall with a 2-2 record in the Gulf South Conference. The Lady Lions improved to 10-2 on the season and 3-0 in conference play.
In the first set, the Lady Bulldogs fell quickly behind 7-0. North Alabama held a comfortable lead for the remainder of the set, leading by as many as 13 points. The second set more of the same for North Alabama. The Lady Lions took an early lead again in the second set. The Lady Bulldogs got within two points of North Alabama with a 6-0 run, but could not get any closer. The Lady Lions ended the set scoring five straight points to give them the 2-0 lead.
The third set, Union found some fire. The Lady Bulldogs played close with North Alabama early in the set. The Lady Lions then began to pull away from Union. North Alabama took the set 25-17, winning the match.
Ceciley Blanchard led the Lady Bulldogs with six kills,
Hannah Huguley with 16 assists and
Elise Seufert and Huguley added five digs each. The Lady Lions were led by Andrea De Leon with 30 assists, Ashtyn Kapovich with 10 digs and four players respectively had eight kills each.
Union continues their home stretch against the University of Alabama Huntsville September 26 at 2:00 p.m.
