Union women’s soccer drops 2-0 match to SEMO

JACKSON, Tenn. – The Union University women's soccer team fell 2-0 to Southeast Missouri State University. Union dropped to 0-6 on the season, while SEMO improved to 5-3-1 overall.
 
Union has been outscored 20-2 in their six losses this season.
 
Union played solid soccer in the first half with both teams managing just four shots each and no goals. However, the second half had SEMO getting more that double the chances, outshooting Union 11-5 in the second half.
 
SEMO scored their first goal in the 50th minute to take the lead and added an insurance goal in the 77th minute to seal the win. Abby Klintworth recorded both goals for the RedHawks, while Jennifer Antonacci and Maddie Kartens had the assists.
 
SEMO outshot Union 15-9 in the game, including 7-5 in shots on goal. Union was shutout in corner kick opportunities 9-0 in favor of SEMO.
 
Kristen Francis recorded five saves in her 90 minutes of work. Alyssa Sickler had two saves in the first half for Southeast Missouri State while Kindra Lierz had three saves in the second half.
 
Up next for Union will be the second of three straight home matches when West Florida comes to Union Friday, September 25 for the Gulf South Conference opener at 5:00 p.m.
