MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Union University men's basketball closed out the regular season with a 72-65 win at Christian Brothers University Thursday night. Union finished the regular season with a 19-9 overall record and a 13-9 Gulf South Conference mark. The Bucs dropped to 15-11 on the season and 12-10 in the GSC.

The win for Union sets the Bulldogs as the No. 5 seed in next week's GSC Tournament.

Both teams got on the board with three pointers from Union's
Marterrace Brock and Charlie Oswald for the Bucs in the first minute of the game. Christian Brothers then got things rolling to lead the Bulldogs 18-10 with 12:17 left in the first half. Union kept the Bucs from running away with the lead. Union battled back into the game and took the lead on a layup from
Ashanti Day to go into the half up 35-34. Union shot 52 percent from the field and 54 percent (7-13) from threes in the first half.

The shootout continued in the second half with Christian Brothers scoring the first three points of the half to reclaim the lead 37-35.
Jordan Montgomery then hit a three pointer to give Union the lead for good. Christian Brothers got as close as three points down the stretch but could not overtake the Bulldogs in the final minutes.

Union finished the game shooting 52.1 percent from the field, 52.2 percent from behind the arc and 76.9 percent at the free throw line. It is only the second time this season the Bulldog have hit over half of the shots taken in a game.

Brock led the Bulldogs with 20 points and six rebounds while
Corieon Pearson added 17 point and recorded seven assists.
Roy Bullock also had 12 points in the game.

Christian Brothers finished the game shooting 52.2 percent from the field and 38.9 percent in threes. Trey Casey led the Bucs with 21 points and six assists and Fleming finished the game with 13 points. Sidy Sall and Charlie Oswald each had 10 points.

Union will start postseason play on Tuesday, March 3
rd, in the first round of the Gulf South Conference tournament at Shorter (Ga.) as the No. 5 seed. Time for the game has yet to be announced.
