Kentucky wins over Union in exhibition

LEXINGTON, Kentucky- The Union University women's basketball team fell 95-63 to the University of Kentucky on Sunday afternoon.
Union struggled to get things going in the first quarter despite putting the first point on the board. Kentucky went on a 16-0 run spanning over five minutes of play. The Lady Bulldogs seemed to find their shot in the closing minutes with Kelsey Risner hitting two threes and ended the quarter down 12 points, 24-12.
UK scored the first four points of the second quarter, but Jordan Johnson answered with a three for Union from the corner. Chelsea Bodiford and Risner hit two more long balls each in the remaining minutes. Turnovers plagued Union for the rest of the half in which they gave the ball up five times in the last 3:19. The Lady Bulldogs went in the locker room down 44-27 at the break.
Union traded blows with the Wildcats in the opening minutes of the third, but Kentucky went on another run of six straight points lengthening their lead to 21 points with four minutes left in the quarter. Thats when Union freshman Tiffany Rechis got hot. Rechis then hit four three-pointers for the Lady Bulldogs in the closing minutes of the third and into the fourth quarter. However, the Wildcats would hold their lead for the rest of the game to win
Following the game, Head Coach Mark Campbell said that he wants his team to "be in the most difficult situations early, so that we that we can prepare for them late."
