Union ties 2-2 in soggy match

JACKSON, Tenn.- The Union University (4-6-1, 2-2-1 GSC) earned a 2-2 draw with Mississippi College (2-7-1, 0-3-1 GSC) in a west match Friday night.
Mississippi College got on the board first only nine minutes into the half when Bastian Busch scored with the assist from Ewahia Amhanesi. 
Union evened the score in the 25th minute when Connor Burns snuck behind the defense and received a pass from David Marin to score for the Bulldogs.
The Choctaws regained the lead in the 34th minute on a penalty kick taken by the Mississippi College goalie Humberto Pelaez folowing a yellow card on Union goalie Matt Kesler to take the 2-1 advantage into halftime.
In the 56th minute, the Bulldogs were able to even the score once again when Diogo Dias snuck in a header off of a free kick to tie the game at 2-2.
The 2-2 tie would hold through two overtime periods, even though Union outshot Mississippi College 8-4 in overtime and 29-17 in the match overall. Andre Silva took 10 shots on the night to put his season total to 39.
Union continues their homestand Sunday against Delta State at 4:00 p.m. then has over a week off before hosting non-conference foe Ouachita Baptist Tuesday, October 20th, at 5:00 p.m.
