CLEVELAND, Tenn. – The Union University Lady Bulldogs fell 3-0(25-23, 25-15, 25-11) to the Lady Flames of Lee University. With the loss, Union dropped to 4-10 on the season and 3-5 in Gulf South Conference play. The Lady Flames improved to 7-6 overall and 3-5 in conference play.
 
Lee jumped on top early in the first set, leading Union 4-0. The Lady Bulldogs were able to come back to tie the Lady Flames 5-5. Lee took back the lead, and kept it for the rest of the set. When the score was 20-16 in favor of the Lady Flames, Union started to make a comeback. The Lady Bulldogs scored three points to get within one point of tying Lee, but were unable to do so.  The Lady Flames took the set 25-23.
 
Lee continued their dominate play in the second set. Again, the Lady Flames took an early lead. Union was able to tie the score at 6-6, but was unsuccessful in gaining momentum to take the lead. Lee controlled the rest of the set winning 25-15.
 
The third set, the Lady Bulldogs held with the Lady Flames early. Union was two points away from tying the set when Lee went on a decisive 9-0 run making the score 18-9 in favor of the Lady Flames. Lee continued to pull away from the Lady Bulldogs, and got the match win.
 
Union was led by Ceciley Blanchard and Abby Schebel with four kills each. Hannah Huguley had 13 assists on the night, and Elise Seufert added nine digs. Erin Hill led the Lady Flames with eight kills. Stephanie Hernandez had 10 digs, and Hillary Hoffpauir had 14 assists to help Lee get the win.
 
Next up for Union is a pair of home games against the University of West Alabama October 9 at 7pm and the Univeristy of West Georgia October 10 at 2pm.
