JACKSON, Tenn.- The Union University (5-9-1, 4-3-1 GSC) men's soccer team pulled off an double overtime thriller with a 2-1 win over Ouachita Baptist (5-9).
With the score tied at 1-1 and in the second overtime period,
Lucas Lopes broke away from the defense but was fouled inside the 18' box that resulted in a penalty kick for Union.
Zac Fletcher took the kick for the Bulldogsand got it above a diving goalie for the golden goal win.
The Tigers had the lead for most of the game scoring in the 22nd minute of the match courtesy of Brandon Hom.
The Bulldogs had one other penalty kick in the match taken by Dias in the 27th minute but was saved by the Ouachita goalie.
With Union finishing up their home stretch tonight, the Bulldogs travel to Shorter on Friday and then onto Lee on Sunday. They will finish up their season at Christian Brothers next Friday. Union lost to the Bucs in a non-conference matchup 2-1 earlier in the season.
