PENSACOLA, Fla.- The Union University men's soccer team lost their first conference match Friday night 2-1 at the University of West Florida. Union fell to 1-4 on the season and 0-1 in Gulf South Conference play. West Florida improved to 2-3-1 on the regular season and 1-0 in conference.
The first half did not see any scoring but it did not have a shortage of chances. West Florida came out early taking 11 shots on the goal to Union's two.
Midway into the second half, Union scored the first goal of the match in the 69
th minute when
Alex Pratt scored his third goal of the season. The pass to set up the scoring opportunity came from freshman
Nil Cierco who earned the assist.
With time winding down in regulation, West Florida's Jonathan Quintero netted the equalizing goal to force overtime with only 30 seconds left in play. West Florida carried the momentum into the overtime period where Felipe Oliveira scored an early goal in the 92
nd minute to take the match 2-1.

Taylor Smith recorded a career high 11 saves on the night while only allowing the two late goals.

th, in Mobile, Ala. at 3:00 p.m.
