JACKSON, Tenn.- After a heartbreaking conference loss Friday night, the Union University volleyball team took down Mississippi College 3-0 (25-15, 25-18, 25-23) to earn their first conference win in 2014. Union improved to 3-4 on the season, and 1-2 in Gulf South Conference play. Mississippi College fell to 4-5 in regular season and 0-3 after Saturday's game.

Lydia Wright said, "It was great to get our first home win and conference win under our belts. Our girls came out and played with great energy and did exactly what we needed to in order to get the win."
Union took the first two sets with relative ease winning 25-15 and 25-18. The third set Mississippi College played much closer and even lead late in the game 23-22. However, Union came back to score three straight points to take the match.

Union was led by another strong performance from
Deja Moorer who racked up 12 kills followed by senior
Abbey Wainwright with 10.
Elise Seufert led with 10 digs and
Lydia Wright with eight, who also led with 31 assists.
Hannah Huguley led in service aces with three.

Tripp Swisher said, "I'm really proud of this team. They played at a really good level pretty much all week. Today they finished the job. They are still learning to play consistently and maintain their poise, but once they do, it will be a lot of fun."
Krista Zieschang and Ashton King each led Mississippi College with 6 kills. Meredith Williams led the Choctaws with 11 assists, while Taylor Edwards and Holly Tupper led with seven digs each.

The Lady Bulldogs will take to the road this weekend taking on Valdosta State on Friday, September 19
th at 5:00 p.m. in Valdosta, Ga. then travel on to Pensacola, Fla. to battle West Florida on Saturday, September 20
th at 2:00 p.m. Both matches are conference games for Union.
