CLEVELAND, Tenn.- The Union University women's basketball team received their first loss of the season losing at Lee (Tenn.) University 74-66 Saturday afternoon. The loss dropped Union to 5-1 overall and 1-1 in Gulf South Conference play, while Lee improved to 5-0 on the season and 2-0 in conference play.

After a hot start to the season and coming into the game ranked #19 in the nation, Union struggled to get things going against Lee from the very beginning only leading once in the first half and ending the half down 37-34. Union shot 52.2% from the field in the half, but only hit two three pointers. Entering the game, Union 13.5 made 3-pointers per game were tops in NCAA DII.

After keeping the score close in the first half to keep themselves in the game, Union's shooting came up cold in the second half where they only shot 31.3% percent from the field and 18.8% (3-16) from behind the arc. Lee was able to take advantage of Unions difficulties scoring and held on to the lead to win 74-66.

Amy Philamlee followed up her record-setting 15 assists and 29-point night at Shorter with 28 points and eight assists versus Lee. Deanna Thompson added 16 points and
Amber Rechis had 11.
Kelsey Risner lead the Lady Bulldogs with 14 rebounds.

Lee was lead by a balanced attack with Kayla Beavers earning 17 points, Cassie Cheeks with 13, and Erin Walsh with 12, while Emileigh Swafford and Shelby Brown each had 11. Brown also lead the Flames in rebounds with 10.
