JACKSON, Tenn.- The Union University men's basketball team improved to 3-0 on the season Wednesday night with a 96-74 win over Rust (Miss.) College. Rust fell to 0-2 on the season.

Union started off the night hot, scoring the first seven points of the game. The Bulldogs were able to keep up their fast pace to eventually lead by 27 points, 36-9, only 10 minutes into the game.

The Bulldogs maintained a 20-plus point lead throughout the rest of the half to lead Rust 59-38 and shot 63 percent from the field. Union was led by
Marterrace Brock with 19 points and
Corieon Pearson with 17.

Rust came out with a little more intensity in the second half and managed to cut the Union lead down to only 12, 69-57, with 12:53 remaining in the game. Union was able to regain their momentum to go back up by as many as 29 points late in the second half and ultimately won the game by 22, 96-74. Union ended the night shooting 51.3% from the field and only 36.0% from behind the 3-point line.

Brock added five more points to his first half total to lead the Bulldogs with 24 points followed closely by Pearson who ended the game with 23. Brock also led Union in rebounds with
Eric Leisey who each had eight on the night.
Roy Bullock finished with 14 points, including 10 in the second half.
Jordan Montgomery also added 14 points. Union shot 75 percent (9-12) from the free throw line.

Rust was led by Johnathan Bownes with 16 points, while Anderson Cunningham added 12 points. Fredrick Fairman led the way with six rebounds on the night. The Bearcats shot 48 percent from the field, 40 percent (6-15) from long range, and 33 percent (4-12) from the free throw line.
