CLEVELAND, Tenn. – The Union University women's volleyball team posted a pair of wins Saturday in the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) MidEast Region Tournament. Union went 2-2 in the region tourney pool play, but will see their season come to an end with an 11-24 record.
 
Union knocked off Victory University 3-0 and clipped Mid-Continent (Ky.) University 3-2 Saturday to even their pool play record to 2-2. Friday was a rough day for the Lady Bulldogs as they dropped both matches, 3-0 to host Lee University and 3-0 to Campbellsville (Ky.) University. Fellow Gulf South foe Lee went 4-0 in poll play to advance to the NCCAA National Tournament.

Union freshman Deja Moorer (Birmingham, Ala./John Carroll Catholic HS) earned all-tournament honors for her play. The 5-foot-9 freshman recorded 25 kills and tallied 13 blocks in the four matches.
 
Union improved on last season's win totals under first year head coach Tripp Swisher. Union was up four wins from seven last season to 11 this year. Union also improved their GSC win total from one a season ago to four this year. Union closed out the season having won five of their last seven home matches. Union finished with a 7-6 record at Fred DeLay Gymnasium.
 
This season marks the final year (provisional year) of the NCAA DII membership process. If Union is approved by the NCAA this coming summer to advance to full membership, Union will be playing next season as a full member of the NCAA DII and Gulf South Conference with opportunities to advance to GSC and NCAA DII postseason tournaments.
