Purpose
It is the purpose of Union University's Sports Hall of Fame to honor those who have combined individual and collective achievement with the ethics and Christian values that are embedded in Union University's global mission. These achievements bring with them local and national recognition and promote institutional prestige. Union University's administration, faculty, staff, student body, and alumni seek to honor those individuals or teams who have made outstanding contributions and the community at large by formally recognizing them in Union University's Hall of Fame. The deadline for nomination each year is April 1.
Nomination Procedures
Nominations may be made at any time during the year but must be received by the deadline of July 1 for consideration during that calendar year. Nominations will be retained for future consideration for five years, in which the nominee who failed to be inducted must be nominated again for future consideration. Nominations can be submitted by mail, email, online, or by hand to the Chair of the Hall of Fame Committee to prompt the selection process. Nomination forms are available at Union University’s Athletics Office, Penick Academic Complex H-3, or nominations may be printed online at
www.uuathletics.com/hof.
Criteria for Selection
Individuals nominated for their athletic achievements must have made significant contributions to Union University’s athletics program as members of a varsity team. Coaches, administrators, and others who have made exceptional contributions may be also considered. Teams that have performed outstanding feats in competition and honored Union University in the national forum of athletics are also eligible for selection. Below is a list of general criteria for selection into Union University’s Intercollegiate Athletics Hall of Fame. Nominations may be made in the following categories:
The Hall of Fame Committee
Each year the Hall of Fame Committee will be responsible for collectively considering the nominations and selecting the most appropriate and deserving nominees for induction into Union University’s Athletics Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame Committee consists of members of Union University’s community who have had an integral role in the operations, development of growth of Union University’s athletics programs, and have a vast knowledge of the history.
