Wilson played baseball and basketball all four years at Union. He is in the Union Sports Hall of Fame as a member of the 1963 baseball team that won the NCAA Small College Championship.
During that 1963 run to the championship, Wilson led Union with a 7-1 record on the mound. He also hit over .300 at the plate. Wilson was named to the NCAA Small College All-Tournament Team. He went 2-for-5 in the championship game. Wilson was the winning pitcher in the game that put Union in the championship game, while also going 1-for-4 with two runs in that game.
In the 1963 season, Wilson hit .376 with 29 hits, two doubles, two home runs, and 14 RBI. On the mound, he led the Bulldogs with a 7-1 record with 69 innings pitched.
Wilson was very involved in campus activities as well. He was selected as Who's Who for Colleges and Universities, was a four-year member of the U Club, NEA two years, Science Club, Escort to Mr. and Mrs. Union, and served as vice president of the Nestor Club. He was also the sophomore class president. He graduated in 1964 with a BS in biology.
