Union University Sports Hall of Fame announces six-member 2020 induction class

JACKSON, Tenn. - The Union University Sports Hall of Fame has announced the next class to be inducted Friday, April 24 at 6:30 p.m. in the Carl Grant Events Center. The 2020 class includes Marshal Brown, Ken Gault, Cassandra Howard, Bob Pavelonis, Andy Rushing, and Larry Wilson. 

Brown, a 19991 graduate of Union, played men's basketball at and is still top two in program history in points (2,204) and rebounds (918). 

Gault, a 1961 graduate of Union, was an award-winning track and cross country runner for the Bulldogs. He helped lead his cross country team to two VSAC and NAIA championships while finishing 14th in the NCAA championship.

Howard, a 1985 graduate of Union, played women's basketball is a former All-American and scholar-athlete. She still holds one of the best seasons in Union history with 24.4 points per game (756 total points). 

Pavelonis, a 1963 graduate of Union, was a two-sport star for the Bulldogs, playing baseball and basketball during his time at Union. In 1961, he became the first Union athlete to make all-conference in two sports. He helped lead his baseball team to a national runner-up finish in 1961. 

Rushing, a 1976 graduate of Union, played baseball at Union but was also a legendary coach for the Bulldogs. He won over 600 games as a baseball coach. He also coached men's golf and started the women's golf program. He won conference championships in both baseball and men's golf at Union. 

Wilson, a 1964 graduate of Union, was also excelled at two-sports during his time at Union, playing baseball and basketball. He pitched for the Bulldog baseball team, leading Union to the NCAA Small College national title in 1963 and a runner-up finish in 1964.
