Union University junior Shelby Lamb has been named the Tennessee Sports Writers Association (TSWA) Softball Player of the Week. This is the first TSWA weekly honor for Union softball this season.
Lamb, a 5-foot-5 junior outfielder from Shelbyville, Tenn., batted .316 (6-19) with four home runs and eight RBIs in six games for the Bulldogs. She helped Union sweep doubleheaders against Christian Brothers and West Georgia, before Union dropped a double-header to conference leading Shorter. Lamb tied a school-record with two homers in one game versus Christian Brothers, both two-run shots, and added another two-run homer in the second game of the doubleheader versus CBU.
The junior hit a solo shot in the second game against West Georgia as well and posted two hits and one RBI in the second contest versus Shorter University. Lamb accounted for eight of Union's 23 RBI in the six games during the week. She leads the Bulldogs in nearly every offensive statistical category, batting .343 with five doubles, eight home runs and 19 RBIs along with 14 walks in 34 contests.
