Union University’s Amber Rechis earned Tennessee Sports Writers Association Women’s Basketball Player of the Week accolades after averaging 21.5 points and 3.5 rebounds, with 11 3-pointers in a pair of contests last week for the Lady Bulldogs.
For Rechis, this is her second TSWA award of the season. It is also the fourth week for a Union women’s player to earn the award (Amy Philamlee twice, Rechis twice).
The Martin, Tenn., native made 6-of-10 from behind the arc and scored 26 points in a 49-46 loss at Delta State, netting 57 percent of the club’s points in the game. She added six rebounds and hit 7-of-9 shots in the second half, as Union put together a 19-3 run to take a momentary lead.
Rechis then posted 17 points with five more trifectas in a victory over Christian Brothers. She connected on 11-of-20 from behind the arc in the two contests for the week. Union is currently 15-6 overall this season and leads the Gulf South Conference with a 10-3 league mark.
