Steven Aldridge was named the Sports Information Director at Union University in September of 2000. In September 2016, his title was changed to Assistant Director of Athletics for Sports Communication. Then in June of 2023, Aldridge was promoted to Associate Director of Athletics, while still leading the Sports Communication department.
Aldridge is a native of Myrtle, Mississippi where he graduated in 1994 from Myrtle High School. In December 1998, He graduated from Union University with a bachelor’s degree in Sports Management with a Marketing emphasis. He was the first student from Union to graduate with a degree in Sports Management. In May 2008, Aldridge completed his Master of Arts in Education from Union University.
Since earning his master's degree in 2008, Aldridge has taught as an adjunct instructor in the Sports Management/Marketing department. He also served three years as co-sponsor for the Physical Education, Wellness, and Sport academic organization, Sigma Delta.
Before graduating from Union, an internship in 1997 turned into a full-time job with the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx, a double-A baseball club in Jackson, Tenn. (name changed later to the Jackson Generals). In February of 1998, he was named the Box Office Manager and later added Events Manager to his duties during his three years with the club.
In September of 2000, Aldridge returned to his Alma Mater to begin work in his current position as the Sports Information Director. During his time as the Union SID, he has earned numerous honors in the field and at Union. In May 2020, Aldridge was named the Union University Servant Leadership Program Supervisor of the Year. In May of 2014, Aldridge was honored as the Union University Staff Member of the Year (release). In 2012, Aldridge was honored with the NAIA's highest SID award, being named the 36th Clarence "Ike" Pearson Award recipient (NAIA release). He was also named TranSouth Conference SID of the Year five times (2006, 2007, 2009, 2010, 2011). He won 55 NAIA-SIDA publication awards including the NAIA's top website in 2003 and 2007, a first place men's soccer brochure in 2008, a first place award in the feature story writing contest in 2009, and a first place women's basketball brochure in 2012.
In June of 2009, Aldridge was elected at the national convention to serve on the NAIA-SIDA board as an at-large officer from 2009-11. In the summer of 2022, he once again joined the national board, this time at the NCAA D2 level, voted in as the South Region Representative on the NCAA D2SIDA Board for a three-year term.Â

In addition to his duties as SID, Aldridge also does Union sports play-by-play on a fill-in basis. He co-hosted a local high school football radio show from 2001-2006. Aldridge did color commentary for the inaugural West Tennessee High School Baseball All-Star Classic on local television in June of 2008. He spent 2008-09 doing color commentary for Trinity Christian Academy football and basketball games, occasionally filling in as the play-by-play person. From 2009-11, Aldridge worked as the football play-by-play voice for the University School of Jackson where he was privileged to call the 2009 and 2011 TSSAA DII-A State Championship games.
Aldridge was married in 2004 to his wife Stacy. They reside in Gadsden, Tennessee with their daughter Haley and son Justin. The Aldridges are members of Gospel Light Baptist Church.
