Daniel Jones

Daniel Jones was named the Union University baseball assistant coach in August of 2024. Jones joined the staff as the head assistant after one season as a part-time assistant coach in 2023-24. 

Jones came to Union in the fall of 2023 after spending two seasons as the assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Coastal Alabama Community College. 

In 2019, he was the Chipola College pitching coach, helping the team to the region title and an appearance in the 2019 NJCAA World Series. 

Jones had five years of head coach experience including four years at St. Petersburg High School (2015-18), and a year each at Gibbs High School (2014) and IMG Academy (2013). 

Before beginning his coaching career, Jones was a minor league umpire in 2012. 

Jones played baseball in the Western Canadian Baseball League where he won the pitching triple crown, leading the league in wins, strikeouts, and ERA. He holds the league record for wins in a season. 

Jones graduated from Brewton Parker College in 2011 where he played two years of baseball. He spent his first two years of college baseball at Chipola College, advancing to the NJCAA World Series both years and winning the title in 2007. 

Jones played baseball at Nease High. School in Pointe Vedra, Florida.Â
