Erica Pitt was named head athletic trainer at Union University in July 2019. Pitt comes to Union after serving eight years at the University of Pikeville, the last four years as the head athletic trainer.
Pitt was hired as the assistant athletic trainer at Pikeville in 2011 and served that role for four years. In 2015, she was promoted to the head athletic trainer position that she held until leaving for Union in the summer of 2019. While at Pikeville, she earned the Mid-South Conference Above and Beyond Award in AT twice, 2015-16 and 2016-17. In 2018-19, her Pikeville AT staff earned the Mid-South Conference AT Staff of the Year Award for the first time in school history.Â
Pitt also served Pikeville as the chair of the Champions of Character Committee for four seasons, while also being elected as the secretary of the Mid-South Conference Champions of Character Committee in 2019.
Prior to her eight years at Pikeville, Pitt served as the graduate assistant athletic trainer at Waldorf College from 2010-11.Â
Pitt is a 2009 graduate of Bethel University (Minnesota), earning a bachelors of art in athletic training. She also holds a masters degree in sports management. Pitt holds several AT certifications including being a Certified Athletic Trainer, Licensed in the State of Tennessee.Â
She is a graduate of Eden Prairie High School in her hometown of Eden Prairie, Minnesota. She is married to her husband Jim, Union's head baseball coach. Pitt is the daughter of Rob and Neusa Niemann.
