Basia Brown Baker joined Union University in March of 2025 as the volleyball assistant coach. Baker comes to Union after spending the 2023 and 2024 seasons as head coach at Hannibal-LaGrange University.
In addition to her two seasons as a head coach, Baker has coached at the club level for three seasons. She led the Club Four 17-Select from 2023-24 and the Arkansas Volleyball Academy 13s and 15s from 2021-23.
Baker is a 2023 graduate of Philander Smith University with a degree in elementary education. She played outside hitter at Philander Smith and helped lead her team to the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Championship in 2022. Baker was named GCAC Athletic Honor Roll and was selected as the honorable mention player of the year in 2021.
Baker graduated from Jacksonville High School in 2019. She was the captain of her high school team and posted the most kills at the school since the 2007 season. Baker was named all-state, received the Titan Athlete Award, and was named the Jacksonville Player of the Year.
Baker and her husband Nehemiah were married in the summer of 2025. She is the daughter of Keisha Harris.
