Ian Wong started his work as a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer in August of 2017. At Union, Wong is working on his Masters of Business Administration. His recent diverse experiences at an industrial medicine setting in Tennessee and at an elite international basketball camp in New Jersey expanded his knowledge and broadened his scope.
Wong is a nationally registered Emergency Medical Technician and is a certified Corrective Exercise Specialist.
Wong, a native of San Jose, California, completed his Bachelors Degree in Athletic Training from Azusa Pacific University in 2016. While a student, he served at Mt. Sac Relays, PT Clinics, Special Olympics, LA Dance Festivals, the National Honor Society of Sports Medicine, South Hills High School, community marathons, and Disneyland. His experience working with Division II athletes, Para Olympic athletes, and Junior Olympic athletes prepared his skills as an effective athletic trainer.
Prior to Union, Ian worked as the Head Athletic Trainer and Sports Medicine Instructor for Gladstone High School (GHS). With the help of two Assistant Athletic Trainers, his staff provided care for 16 Varsity Teams, 11 JV Teams, and 7 Freshman Teams. With a passion for educating students, Wong started the first athletic training class with 19 students at GHS. In one year, his program grew to more than 70 students. While at GHS he offered his time to various organizations including Azusa Pacific University Division I Club Rugby, Orange County SC, SoccerViza, and College-Prep Schools in LA County.
Wong is the Athletic Trainer for Women’s Soccer and Men’s Basketball.
