Before Union
Newman prepped at Carroll County High School in Hillsville, Va., where she played four years of varsity soccer. As a sophomore, junior, and senior, she was named First Team All-District, and as a sophomore and senior, she earned Second Team All-Region honors. She set school records in most career goals with 86, most goals in one season with 39, most goals in one game with six, most points in one game with 12, and most hat tricks in one season with eight. In addition to soccer, she ran one year of cross country. Newman also played for the SWVA Rush Soccer Club for nine years and was chosen for Rush Select Hub in 2021.
