Before Union
Risner prepped at Wayne County (Tenn.) High School where she played basketball for Coach Byrd. Her team reached a No. 2 ranking in the state polls and is coming off a 20-12 season in which they advanced to the state quarterfinals in 2011. She was named all-region and all-district as a freshman and sophomore. Risner helped lead her team to the sub-state in 2009 and the state tournament in 2010, following district and region titles both seasons. Risner averaged 12 points, three rebounds, three steals and three assists per game. Off the court, Risner was a member of the Beta Club, Interact, Y2Y, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and was on the Principal's List.
