Chris Sumski joined the Union University women's basketball coaching staff as a volunteer assistant in August of 2015. His wife Lauren is Union's assistant coach.
Sumski spent two seasons as an assistant coach for St. Andrews University where he was promoted to head assistant and recruiting coordinator after his first season. In one season, he helped his team double their win total from the previous year. He also spent two seasons head coaching the junior varsity team. He coach two all-conference players and helped earned win over national ranked competition. The team posted the most wins of their NAIA era at St. Andrews.
Sumski is a 2012 graduate of St. Andrews with a degree in sports management. He played four years of basketball for St. Andrews during the school's final years as an NCAA DII member. He averaged 12 points per game as a senior. He finished in the top-10 in the conference with a school record 81 made 3-pointers. Twice he set or tied school records for three pointers made in a game with nine.
He graduated high school from Independence High School in Charlotte, North Carolina in 2007. He played basketball and ran cross country in high school.
He is the son of Steve and Melissa Sumski.
