Before Union
Cummings, 5-foot-4 outfielder and pitcher, prepped at Lebanon High School where she played softball and basketball for four seasons, while running cross country for two seasons. She helped lead her softball teams to conference titles in 2010, 2011, and 2012. They also won regional titles in 2010 and 2012, the sectional title in 2010, super-sectional champions in 2010, and were the Illinois Class A state runner-up in 2010. In basketball, her teams claimed conference titles in 2011, 2012, and 2013, while winning the region title in 2013. Cummings posted numerous individual honors including being named a four-time all-area player by the Belleville News-Democrat. She was twice named all-metro by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Cummings was first team all-conference in 2011 and 2013. She was named the St. Louis Post-Dispatch player of the week twice and was named a St. Louis Post-Dispatch Scholar-Athlete in 2013. She has a career batting average of .477 with 41 career doubles, 184 hits, 73 career RBI and just 21 career strikeouts in 386 at-bats. She struck out just two times as a senior. As a pitcher, Cummings was 32-17 for her career with a 3.18 ERA. She recorded 404 career strikeouts in 313 career innings. Off the field, Cummings was just as successful. She was the Lebanon High School (LHS) Valedictorian, Freshman of the Year (2010), Chemistry Student of the Year (2011), History Student of the Year (2013), Spanish Class of the Year (2013), president of the LHS National Honors Society (2013), honor roll all four years, recipient of the LHS 4.0 Award, and was named LHS Student of the Month three times. Cummings also won numerous math and science Olympiad Awards, was a member of the third place delegation at the Blackburn College Model UN, and was president of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
