Sara Cowan was named assistant coach for the softball program in August of 2017 after spending the previous two years as a graduate assistant.
Cowan graduated from Union in May 2016 with a Bachelors of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Human Studies. She added her M.A.Ed. masters degree in 2017.
Cowan played one year of softball for Union, but due to injury had to medically retire. Although, she stayed involved with the softball program as a student assist leading her to the Graduate Assistant position. She prepped at Fayette Academy where she played softball for four years. She earned all-district honors in her last three seasons, and received her teams leadership award for those seasons as well. Cowan also played in the West TN All-Star game, and received the Most Outstanding Pitcher award for her efforts.
Cowan is the daughter of Roger and Donna Cowan of Whiteville, Tenn.
