Before Union
Newman prepped at the University School of Jackson where he played four years of varsity soccer. He helped lead USJ to the Division 2 Tennessee State Title in 2015 and the Division 1 Tennessee State Title in 2018. He was named Best of the West All-Tournament, Division 2A All-District, and was a Tennessee ODP Region III Pool Player. Newman posed 21 goals and 15 assists in 2018 and over two and a half seasons, led USJ with 35 goals and 20 assists. Newman also played club soccer for Super Clubs U15 National Team (England) in 2015, Jackson Futbol Club for seven seasons, CSA 02 Lobos Rush Premier for three seasons, and the Olympic Development Program for three seasons. Off the field, Newman was a member of the National Honors Society, honor roll, and Mu Alpha Theta.Â
