Before Union
Pope prepped at Somerset (Ky.) Christian School where he played four seasons of soccer and one season of basketball. He helped lead his soccer team to the Kentucky State Title in 2011, 2012, and 2013, while making the state tournament all four years. Pope was named the state tournament MVP three times, all-state three times, Best Offense Award three times, and was selected as the KCAA State Mr. Soccer Award winner in 2013. In his career, Pope scored 99 goals with 20 assists. He set school record for goals in a season (48) and career goals (99). He was twice the KCAA single season leader in goals. Off the field, Pope was valedictorian, member of teh Governor's Scholars Program, all "A" honor roll all four years, Christian Witness Award winner at Somerset all four years, student government vice president as a senior, four year as an officer, member of the National Honors Society, and editor of the school newspaper.
