Matt Kesler is entering his first season with the Union University Men's Soccer Program as assistant/goalkeeper coach.
KeslerĀ is the head coach of the high school boys soccer program at Briarcrest Christian School, as well as, the director of goalkeeping for Arlington Soccer Academy. Prior to moving back to Memphis, Coach Kesler served as the director of goalkeeping for Ohio Elite Soccer Academy, which is a soccer club based in Cincinnati, Ohio that competes in the ECNL. Kesler has also spent time coaching as a staff head coach and goalkeeper coach with Birmingham United Soccer Association, Northern Kentucky Soccer Association, and Collierville Lobos.
Kesler also enjoyed a fruitful playing career as a goalkeeper for Union University. He played all four years, collecting some prestigious awards along the way such as, Gulf South Conference Defender of the Week, second team all-conference, GSC All-Academic, and various other awards. He ranks third all time in most saves in one season, and he ranks second all time in career saves. After college,Ā Kesler went on to play in the USLās Premier Development League for the Cincinnati Dutch Lions, and he went on a month-long trial for now MLS club FC Cincinnati.
Kesler currently holds his USSF National āDā License, and he is currently working towards his USSF National āCā License. He also holds his United Soccer Coaches Advanced National Diploma and Level 1 GK Diploma.
Kesler and his wife, Megan, reside in Memphis, Tennessee with their eight month old daughter, Maya Grace Kesler.
