Winkleman prepped at Harrisburg High School, where he ran four years of cross-country and three years of track. He was named HHS Cross Country MVP three times and Southern Illinois River to River All-Conference four times. He was also named to the 2023 Southern Illinois All-South Cross Country Team.Â
Off the course, Winkleman was a member of the National Honors Society and the Mu Alpha Theta Math Honors Society. He was also the student body president.
