Before Union
Aguinaga transferred to Union from Houston (Texas) Baptist University where he ran track and cross country. In 2011, he was a national qualifier at the USATF meet in Oregon. Aguinaga was twice named to his conference all-academic team. Aguinaga prepped at Channelview (Texas) High School where he ran track and cross country, and also played soccer. In cross country, he was a three time region qualifier, and was a state qualifier as a senior. Aguinaga twice qualified for track regionals, while qualifying for state as a senior. Aguinaga was voted MVP all four years in cross country and twice in track. He was selected as the team captain for his soccer team as a junior. In the classroom, Aguinaga was top-10 percent of his graduating class and earned the Troy Cooper Award, the highest honor for a Channelview student. Aguinaga is the son of Iris and Susana Aguinaga.
