Before Union
McCraw prepped at Trinity Christian Academy where he played four years of golf. He helped lead his team to three district titles, three region titles, and a runner-up finish in the state tournament. McCraw was twice named first team All-West Tennessee, once named second team All-West Tennessee, and was a Wendy's High School Heisman Award winner. He was undefeated in regular season play as a senior. He was the region individual champion and added another runner-up finish in postseason play. Off the course, McCraw was selected to the National Honors Society, was in the 30+ ACT Club, and was on the honor roll.
