Before Union
Parmely played four years of baseball during his prep years at McNairy Central High School, during which time his team earned District 14-AA titles. He took home district all-tournament honors in 2019.

Off the field, Parmely was the president of both his freshman and sophomore classes and a member of the National Honors Society. He finished fourth in his graduating class.
