Biography

Before Union
Speed transferred to Union from Murray State (Ky.) University after playing one season. As a junior, he hit .270 with a home run at Murray State. He spent his freshman and softball seasons of his college career at State College of Florida. While there, Speed helped lead his team to two straight SunCoast Conference Titles, including an appearance in the JUCO World Series in 2010. Over his two seasons at State College of Florida, he hit .320 with four homeruns, including an all-conference honor in 2010. Speed prepped at Union City (Tenn.) High School where he played baseball, football and basketball. He helped lead his basketball team to the 2009 Tennessee State Title. Speed was also named a Class A Mr. Football Finalist, first team all-state in football, all-district in basketball, and all-region in football during his career.
