Tyler Schweigert began his time as a graduate assistant for the Union University baseball team in the fall of 2014. He is now in his second year with the Bulldogs. He is a 2014 graduate of Eastern Illinois University and is a native of Libertyville, Ill.
Schweigert played all four seasons of baseball at Eastern Illinois, closing out with his senior year being the best. He was named Ohio Valley Conference Second Team All-Conference as a utility player. He started 45 games and played in 52 games as a senior. Schweigert hit .314 with 29 runs, 26 RBI, and 11 extra base hits. Had a .420 slugging percentage, .367 on-base percentage, and stole six bases. Hit .358 batting average in OVC games put him 14th in the league in that stat. He finished he 4-year career with 68 runs, 43 RBI, and 18 extra base hits, playing in 143 games with 85 starts. Schweigert's first career college hit was a solo home run versus Southern Illinois University.
Schweigert is a 2010 graduate of Libertyville High School. He hit .447 with 20 extra base hits and 24 stolen bases as a senior. was named to the North Suburban Conference All-Conference team and the Herald All-Area team in 2009 adn 2010. As a senior, he was named all-state honorable mention. He stuckout only 12 times in 123 at-bats as a senior, while also setting the school record for hits in a season.
Schweigert is the son of Roger and Diana Schweigert. He is working on his Masters of Business Administration and is looking to continue coaching at the college level after graduation.
