Before Union
Coffelt prepped at Tullahoma (Tenn.) High School where he played four seasons of golf for head coach Brad White. Coffelt helped lead his team to the district championship three times from 2006-08. His team also posted district and region runner-up finishes in 2009. Coffelt was named Team Captain as a junior and senior, while earning Team MVP as a senior. Coffelt held the team's low scoring averaged with a 37/74. He set new school 18-hole record with a round of 66, and also tied the nine-hole low round with a 30. He was the low medalist as a senior with a 72 in the district tournament, followed by a sixth place finish in the region and 26th place finish in the state tournament. Coffelt was a seven-time winner on the Tennessee Golf Association’s Junior Tour. Coffelt qualified for the 2010 State Amateur tournament and the Junior State Amateur Tournament. Off the course, Coffelt was also successful as he was a member of the National Honor Society, was an elected officer in the FBLA, DECA region winner and FBLA state winner. He was an active member of the FCA and Grace Baptist Church.
