Before Union
Castaldo prepped at Bishop Verot (Fla.) High School where she letter all four years in softball. She was named her team's defensive MVP as sophomore, overall MVP as a junior, and offensive MVP as a senior. Castaldo was named first team all-area three times, Lee Country Player of the Year as a junior, and the Florida Athletic Coaches Association District 18, Class 4A Player of the Year. She also earned honorable mention all-state as a sophomore, and first team all-state as a junior. As a senior, Castaldo hit .342 with seven doubles, one triple, three home runs, 19 RBI, and 13 runs. She also struckout 118 batters with just 19 walks in 125 innings. She was 17-4 as a junior with 180 strikeouts, 10 walks, in 150.1 innings. He hit .435 with six doubles and a home run.
