Before Union
Isaacs prepped at Grace Christian (Alaska) Academy where he ran cross country for four seasons. In addition, he also ran track for four years, participated in cross country skiing two years, and played basketball for two years. Isaacs helped lead his cross country, track and field, and cross country skiing teams to championships. Isaacs was named Most Improved in cross country skiing, was all-state three times in cross country, while also being named all-state twice in track and field. He was a member of his school's cross country team that set the record by winning eight straight cross country state titles. Off the course, he was named to the honor roll all four years.
