Before Union 
Rider prepped at McKenzie High School where he played four years of golf. He was also the basketball manager for four years and participated in the Scholastic Shooting Sports for four years. He helped lead his golf team to district and region titles as a senior. Rider was named first team All-West Tennessee, placed second in district as a senior, won first place in region tournament as a senior, and was a 2018 Wendy's Heisman Award winner. He also was named NRA All-Scholastic Shooting Sports Team. Rider was ranked among the top-3 lowest season average in McKenzie HS golf history. He ranked 21st in the state as a senior. Off the course, Rider was the class Valedictorian, Governor's Volunteer Stars Award winner, Rotary Youth Leadership Academy delegate, Youth Leadership Carroll County, American Legions Boys State  delegate, Beta Club vice president, and DECA Club president. His older brother Braxton is a member of the Union golf team, while his other two brothers, Carson and Alex, are both Union graduates.
