MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Union University men's cross country team opened the season with at 10th place finish at the City Auto Memphis Twilight Meet. The 4-mile event took place at the Mike Rose Soccer Field on the campus of the University of Memphis. Race began at 10:00 p.m. and featured 20 teams with 186 runners. 

Middle Tennessee won the event with Ole Miss and Alabama rounding out the top three. Union joined two other D2 schools in the top 10 including Harding (5th) and UAH (6th). 

Union's Aaron Fynaardt finished 20th to lead the Bulldogs with a time of 20:11. Luke Winkleman was 53rd, Jonathan Lewis 56th, Joseph Hamilton 58th, Jude Sparkman 85th, Caleb Santhosh 131st, Anderson Mathias 142nd, Clark French 145th, Riley Garrison 147th, Adian Hurst-Vasquez 160th, and Kaydan Patterson 169th. 

Up next for Union will be the Southern Showcase hosted by Jacksonville State University September 18 in Huntsville, Ala. at John Hunt Park.
