JACKSON, Tenn.- Lady Bulldogs took down the Lady Blazers of Valdosta State on a Saturday afternoon contest at the Smith Memorial Soccer Complex. Following the match, Union is the only team left undefeated in conference play with a record of 3-0-2.
Prior to kickoff, the senior class was honored with their friends and families. Included in the celebration, was
Antia Lopez Rodriguez,
Rebekah Jackson,
Brooklyn Robbins,
Amelia Goehring,
Irene Arias,
Brooke Salerno,
Amanda Carr,
Avery Caldwell,
Mia Duncan,
Tessa Erzen, and
Bethany Guinness. Eight out of the 11 seniors have been with Union since their freshman year.
Rebekah Jackson kicked off scoring in the 14th minute off a cross from
Paige Blackburn. Valdosta State responded in the second half with a goal of their own. Sarah Hudson found the back of the net off some chaos in the box following a corner kick. However, Jackson wasn't done. She followed it up a screamer of a game winning goal assisted by frosh
Komang Ardana.
Irene Arias added insurance in the 75th minute to secure the victory.
VSU was able to collect their second goal off a corner kick in the final 45 seconds of the game.
Jackson leads the conference in goals, averaging a goal per game. She also holds the number one spot for points with 17 (2.13 Avg/G).
Lopez Rodriguez collected all 90 minutes and earned herself 4 saves on the match.
