DAHLONEGA, Ga. - In a field of several nationally ranked teams, Union University men's golf posted a 10th place finish in the Lake Lanier Collegiate Classic hosted by the University of North Georgia. The 3-round event took place at Achasta Golf Club and featured 16 teams and 90 golfers. 

Union was in fourth place after round one (+2), dropped to seventh place after a second round (+1), and finished 10th after a third round (+2), +5 for the 54-holes. Host North Georgia won the event at -34, while Lincoln Memorial finished second at -24. GSC foe Lee jumped Union in the final round to finish eighth at +3. 

Two freshmen golfers, both from Jackson, Tennessee, Houston Brasfield (USJ) and Nolan Smith (JCS) led the Bulldogs in their first collegiate events. Brasfield fired a 66 (-4) in his first college round, followed by a second round 71 (+1), and a final round 69  (-1) to finish T13 206 (-4). Smith finished T24 with rounds of 72, 67, 71 (E). Brasfield finished with 13 birdies, while Smith recorded 12 birdies on the week. 

Andrew Westmoreland finished T58 (72, 73, 72, +7), Trace Robinson finished T58 (72, 70, 75, +7), and Henry Ashley finished T64 (76, 73, 70, +9). Ashley's final round of 70 jumped his place 13 spots on the final day. His final round included two birdies and one eagle on the par-5 16th hole. 

Up next for Union will be the National Preview hosted by Nova Southeastern University September 28-29 at the PGA National Resort in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
