HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The Union University women's cross-country team finished 24th Friday morning at the Southern Showcase, hosted by Jacksonville State University. The Lady Bulldogs competed in the 5K invite race, which featured several NCAA Division I programs. It took place at John Hunt Park in Huntsville, Alabama.
Union finished 24th out of 31 teams in the field and competed against three other Gulf South Conference teams (Lee University – 9th, Mississippi College – 21st, Christian Brothers University – 26th).
Addi Aguayo led the Lady Bulldogs, finishing 47th overall with a time of 17:47.7. Aguayo's performance was the second-fastest 5K time in Union history.
Victoria Markham followed, finishing 75th with a time of 18:10.2. Aguayo and Markham both posted times that rank among the top 10 in Union program history.
Union's next three finishers were Elodie Weaver, who placed 269th with a time of 20:22.7, Kayla Keener, who finished 271st in 20:25.5, and Sophie Crisler, who placed 274th in 20:27.6.
Emma Madding finished 285th with a time of 20:47.1, Clara Zinn finished 302nd in 21:45.8, and Heidi Munday finished 307th in 23:53.9.
The Lady Bulldogs will return to action Oct. 3 at the Greater Louisville Classic in Louisville, Kentucky.
