JACKSON, Tenn. - The Union University volleyball team posted a 3-0 (25-21, 25-19, 25-18) win over Lane College to open the 2026 season. The match was also the first in the 10-match
Union University Classic over the weekend. There will be four matches Friday starting at 2 p.m. and five matches Saturday starting at 9 a.m. Union plays three more matches this weekend.
The win marked the first for head coach
Emma Carter in her first year with the Lady Bulldogs.
The first set was close for most of the way with Union pulling ahead at the end. The Lady Bulldogs controlled play for the remainder of the match. Union nearly doubled Lane in kills, 30-16, while also winning the service battle with nine aces. Lane out-blocked Union 4-3.
Sydney Davis led Union with eight kills, while
Hannah Hamill and
Parker Goff added five each. Goff led with five aces,
Anna Edwards with two blocks, and
Caileigh Collins with 11 digs.
Kylie Creech and
Sam McHale led with 13 and 12 assists respectively.
Up next for Union will be a non-conference contest versus Gulf South Conference foe AUM Friday at 8 p.m. to close out Friday's matches at Fred DeLay Gymnasium.
