Union men's soccer drops season opener at Ouachita Baptist, 1-0

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - The Union University men's soccer team fell 1-0 at Ouachita Baptist University Thursday night in the season opener. Union will look to rebound Saturday afternoon at Smith Soccer Complex in the home opener versus Tuskegee University at 4 p.m.

Union found it difficult to get shots in the match, settling for two in the first half and four more in the second half. Ouachita Baptist dominated the offensive attacks with 28 shots in the game, including 20 in the second half. OBU led 5-1 in shots on goal. 

The home Tigers scored the lone goal of the afternoon in the 51st minute of play when Eric Godoy scored on a forward pass from Andrew Castellanos. 

Union did find the back of the net midway through the second half to seemingly tie the match. However it was waved off when the Bulldogs were called for offsides. 

Corner kicks went OBU's way 5-3, while Union led in fouls, 10-8. 

Patrick Schott turned away four shots to keep Union in the match. Union's six shots came from six different players.
