MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Union University baseball team dropped the final series of the 2026 season at Christian Brothers University. Union won the first game of Saturday's doubleheader 11-5. Union then lost the second game Saturday 15-5 and game three Sunday afternoon 8-7. Union ended its season 21-27 overall and 12-21 in the Gulf South Conference. Christian Brothers closed out 2026 13-34 overall and 8-25 in league play.
Game one's victory was highlighted with big performances from Lane Evens (13 Ks), Dylon Barrett (3-for-6) and
Nick Stamper (2-for-4). Stamper's two hits included a double and home run, finishing the game with three RBI.
Canyon Pace, Caleb. Davis, and
Joseph Hufstedler added two hits each. Senior
Lane Evans tossed a complete game in his final start, going nine innings, allowing five runs on nine hits with 13 strikeouts and one walk.
Game two produced big offensive outputs from
Kylon Joyner (3-for-4) and
Grant Ross (3-for-4). Davis and Stamper both added two hits each, including a second straight game with Stamper hitting a double. Ross led with two RBI.
In game three, Union led 7-4 entering the bottom of the seventh in a nine inning game. CBU rallied with four runs in the bottom of the seventh to take the lead. Neither team scored in the final two frames. Barrett had another big game, going 4-for-5 with an RBI. Pace and Stamper added two hits each, while Hufstedler hit a solo home run, while
Jake Keyl added a double in the final game of their collegiate careers. Stamper led with four RBI and completed the series, hitting a double in all three games.
