Abigail Fernandez shoots 3rd best score of the second round at +2 in the GSC Championship

DICKSON, Tenn. - The Union University women's golf team remained in sixth place after the second round of theÂ
2026 Gulf South Conference Championship. The three round event is being played at the Greystone Golf Club and features nine teams with 45 golfers.Â
Union improved slightly from its 30-over par first round score with a 27-over par in the second round for a current score of +57. No. 26 West Florida remains in first at +26, No. 28 Mississippi College kept its hold on second place at +33. No. 40 Montevallo jumped two spots to No. 3 at +34. No. 9 Lee dropped a spot to fourth at +37 and Trevecca dropped a spot to fifth at +48.Â
Abigail Fernandez for Union was 2-over par in the second round, the third best score of all women's golfers in the round. She vaulted to ninth place overall heading into Wednesday's final round. She posted 14 pars, a birdie, and three bogies in the second round.Â
Brooklyn Verdugo dropped eight spots to 18th (+12).Â
Camille Burnette jumped six spots to 25th (+16).
Macy Bromley is in 31st (+22).
Olivia Carroll subbed in for
Grace Roper in the second round and is in 44th after Carroll posted a +12 in the second round.Â
West Florida's Millie Thompson leads the championship at +1.Â
